This position will provide an opportunity to learn the Cohen & Steers global investment process and more broadly the asset management business. Responsibilities include managing daily valuation models, managing index benchmarks, and supporting Global Portfolio Managers with macro strategy research and portfolio analysis. The associate will work with Portfolio Managers and Analysts to produce portfolio level reporting, as well as support marketing efforts and information requests relating to client accounts.
Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree with two to three years of experience in investment banking or investment management.
• Expertise with Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg platform. Basic programming knowledge a plus. Ability to handle large data infrastructure.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with precision and urgency.
• Basic understanding of security analysis and accounting concepts.
• Fluency in Mandarin preferred

This candidate will support senior analysts and the portfolio manager in covering companies. Participate in security relative value and portfolio positioning discussions. As a day-to-day matter, run various reports for the team relating to security valuation, portfolio tracking, index positioning and performance, and manage databases relating to these reports. Work on various portfolio issues as they arise and support marketing efforts and information requests relating to client accounts. Work on miscellaneous market and security valuation projects with the portfolio manager and senior analysts.
Requirements
*BA and strong desire to work in asset management
*2-3 years related experience preferred
Experience in covering banking and insurance companies a positive. Utility, telecom and media company experience also a plus.
*Desire to pursue a CFA is a plus
*Strong facility with computers, particularly Excel and Bloomberg applications
*Facility with fixed income markets and mathematics is a plus
*Ability to develop as an analyst in covering company fundamentals

This candidate will conduct in-depth industry and company research and provide equity and credit analysis to make both long and short investment recommendations to the portfolio manager. Sectors under coverage may include all global real estate and real estate related sectors. Formulate bottom-up company fundamental inputs and cash flow models for firm’s proprietary valuation tools. Analyze company and industry news quickly and concisely convey information to portfolio manager and investment committee. Analyze credit opportunities in public real estate securities. Present and defend investment recommendations on individual companies to portfolio manager. Travel to conferences/company meetings; develop relationship with management of companies under coverage. Support firm’s institutional marketing and mutual fund marketing activities.
Requirements
*3+ years experience as a buy-side equity analyst -- coverage of real estate stocks and fixed income, financials, homebuilders, leisure, retailers, and other real estate related companies is a positive.
* Exceptional financial and analytical skills.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to persuasively present and defend ideas to portfolio manager.
* Ability to deal effectively with company management and sell-side analysts.
* CFA and/or MBA preferred.
