Tyler Rosenlicht on Real Assets, Cohen & Steers ETFs, & More
At Exchange 2026, Tyler Rosenlicht made the case for active ETFs, especially with regard to real assets including infrastructure and natural resource equities.
In the article Tyler Rosenlicht refers to "institutional quality global natural resource equities strategy." By that he means, a strategy similar to that which has historically only been available to institutional investors. Tyler Rosenlicht stated that in 2022 equities declined 18%, fixed income declined 16%, and infrastructure declined 5% while natural resources rose 10% and commodities rose 16%. This is attributable to data from Bloomberg and the CME Group. “Beta” in this article is defined as an investment’s volatility, measured as price movement relative to the S&P 500.

Listed infrastructure. Infrastructure issuers may be subject to regulation by various governmental authorities and may also be affected by governmental regulation of rates charged to customers, operational or other mishaps, tariffs and changes in tax laws, regulatory policies and accounting standards. Foreign securities involve special risks, including currency fluctuations, lower liquidity, political and economic uncertainties and differences in accounting standards. Some international securities may represent small and medium-sized companies, which may be more susceptible to price volatility and less liquidity than larger companies.
Cohen & Steers Capital Management, Inc. (Cohen & Steers) is a registered investment advisory firm that provides investment management services to corporate retirement, public and union retirement plans, endowments, foundations and mutual funds.
Investing involves risks, including the potential loss of principal. There are also some specific risks to the two funds mentioned. See the prospectus for all risks:
CSIO - Since the Fund concentrates its assets in global infrastructure securities the Fund will be more susceptible to adverse economic or regulatory occurrences affecting global infrastructure companies than an investment company that is not primarily invested in global infrastructure companies. Infrastructure issuers may be subject to regulation by various governmental authorities and may also be affected by governmental regulation of rates charged to customers, operational or other mishaps, tariffs and changes in tax laws, regulatory policies and accounting standards.
CSNR - The Fund is subject to special risk considerations and may not be appropriate for all investors. Investing in specific sectors increases its vulnerability to any single economic, political, or regulatory developments, which will have a greater impact on the Fund’s return. An investment in the natural resource equities involves risks that differ from a similar investment in equity securities, such as common stock, of a corporation. There are special risks associated with natural resources investments, this means that the fund is more vulnerable to the price movements that particularly impact one or more of the various industries and sub industries within the natural resources sector. Funds investing in a single industry, country or in a limited geographic region generally are more volatile than more diversified funds.
